Itinerary
On the slopes above the Douro Estuary, Porto is a historic merchant city. The charming centre is a World Heritage site, and you’ll be struck by how rich and varied this heritage can be: medieval walls, gleaming Baroque churches, the narrow streets of the Ribeira district and Romanesque Cathedral. Fortified port wine is still stored in warehouses on the south bank of the Douro. You will visit the most impressive monuments such as Clerigos Church & Tower and one of the most beautiful train stations in the world, with the Portuguese azulejo tiles, São Bento. Porto´s Cathedral is set in a prime location over looking the city. A magnificent Romanesque building dating back to the 12th century, it was founded by the parents of the first king of Portugal, Afonso Henriques. Ribeira is Porto´s historic centre by the riverside and it is here you will board the Six Bridges River Cruise along the Douro River. You will end this wonderful tour in Vila Nova de Gaia, with a guided tour of a renowned Port Wine Cellar. Creating memories which will stay with you forever.

Porto´s Historical Centre
To begin this marvellous day in Porto your official tour guide will be waiting outside your accommodation. We begin in the wonderful historical centre of Porto. Admire the marvellous Clerigos Church & Tower: an 18th-century baroque church which is a national symbol and designed by Italian architect, Nicolau Nasoni. Discover one of the most outstanding and beautiful train stations in the world. São Bento is an unmissable landmark in Porto. Opened in 1903 it was named after the Benedict convent that stood before it. The main hall of the railway station is embellished with over 20,000 Portuguese blue and white azulejo tiles.

Six Bridges River Cruise
One of Porto's greatest charms is the Douro River and the city crosses it along six wonderful bridges. Besides the distinct architecture of each bridge, each one also has a story to tell. Through the waters of the imposing Douro and aboard a boat full of charm, we complete the scenario of an iconic city in constant connection to the river in its different perspectives. Here the rabelo boats used to move their barrels of Port wine to the Gaia pier and from its waters the fishermen made their living. We will meet the picturesque Afurada, once a fishing village; today one of the most appreciated places to visit in Porto. On the Six Bridges River Cruise we discover and live the history of Porto and the Douro River which, when it reaches the estuary and becomes quietly immense, fills our soul.
