Next you will visit Almendres Cromlech, a megalithic settlement set in beautiful countryside. Support the local Alentejo community on a visit to two family-businesses: an organic olive oil grove with a specialised tour by Joao the owner and an olive oil tasting session and a local working cork factory, where you will enjoy a guided tour with David, the owners son. This tour is perfect for those wishing to uncover some Portuguese history, plus support the rural community.

Roman Temple of Diana, Evora
This temple is a symbol of the Roman occupation of Portugal. It was erected in the first century AD in honour of Diana, the Roman goddess of hunting. Enjoy the peaceful Garden of Diana adjacent to the temple.

Chapel of Bones, Evora
This intriguing chapel holds walls covered in bones and human skulls – a passage to Heaven of Hell – built by a Franciscan monk in the 16th century.

Almendres Cromlech Megalithic Site
This is the biggest megalithic monument in the Iberian Peninsula. It was built about 7000 years ago and is a quiet and beautiful site where you will visit two different types of monument.

Family-owned Organic Olive Grove.
Next you visit an olive grove just outside of Evora. Here you will enjoy an olive oil tasting session, produced from an organic olive grove planted by the owners grandfather. The olive used if of the Galega variety, native from Portugal and from olive trees aged between 70 and 2000 years old. This is a unique and genuine experience, showing their local culture and way of life and perfect those who appreciate olive oil, tranquility and nature.

Family-owned Cork Factory.
To end the day you will visit a large, working cork factory where you will learn all about cork! Including how the cork is harvested from the tree trunk and expertly crafted into many items. There is also a fabulous shop with many cork products to buy, should you wish take home a memento.
