Intermediates, head to the famous, reliable reef break of Ribeira d’Ilhas. And experienced surfers choose from over 15 great spots! Including world famous long and hollow wave of Coxos and the barrels of Pedra Branca, Backdoor, Reef, Cave and Crazy Left. A meeting point for the World Surf League, Peniche is a year round surf location hosting many international competitions, most famous for Supertubos! If you are a beginner head to Cova da Alfarroba, Prainha and Cantinho. More experienced surfers tackle the stronger waves at Lagido, Meio da Baiar and the world famous Supertubos. With breathtaking scenery and magical sunrise and sunsets, Peniche is a place to simply relax on a peninsula (as you do!). With not much else but surfing going on, it’s a great place to take photos, ride or skate the bicycle lanes and socialise with other surfers.
Famous for its big wave surfing and Garrett McNamara, Nazare Beach is an exposed beach break with quite reliable waves any time of the year. Best peaks are to the right side of the beach, right in front of the village. Swell is to the west and southwest. Suitable for all levels. Nazare has lots to offer. Walk through the narrow streets and discover one of the village’s many excellent seafood restaurants or climb the Elevador and admire the breath-taking panoramic views.
